Probably my favourite song that year. This was massive !!!!! #1 worldwide.
My parents also loved it. They kept reminding me that this was a remake of Roberta Flack's.
The score was one of my first albums I ever bought!! The song also introduced me to lauryn hill - what a hottie!!!!

The Fugees are slightly overrated in that aspect, that all their hits were either covers of heavily utilised samples. I liked their take on this. It made the song massive a second time around. Roberta's version spent several weeks at #1 and won her Grammy's.

It's a solid remake. And I agree, they've always been overrated.

I love it. I remember Hot 97 was like the first station in the country to styart playing it and Angie Martinez would be like "Stop calling to request the Fugees! We get the point already, I haven't seen this many requests for a song ever!" and a few weeks later the song was everywhere. Kind of bummed that it never even got to appear on the Hot 100, but it is what it is.

One of the best covers of all time. I hear it on the radio occasionally and I have no problem cranking it up because it still sounds as fresh as it did upon release. Weren't there rumblings about a reunion not too long ago? I wonder what came of that.

Weren't there rumblings about a reunion not too long ago? I wonder what came of that. They released "Take It Easy" and it bombed. Then they tested out two more tracks as a second single, and they both got horrible reactions.

^ Yeah, I agree. This was a good song and all, but I still don't understand why it got such a positive reaction.
