This is a great vocal performance by Mariah. It should have been the second single instead of "Never Too Far", but whatever. It's my second favorite song from Glitter behind "All My Life".

It's a nice ballad, one of my favourite songs on this album. It definately should have been realised, I hated "Never Too Far".

My favourite song on the album, "All My Life" is a close second
If I recall correctly this was written during the Butterfly sessions.

It totally should have been the second single. It's the only great ballad on that album. "Twister" is tolerable, but Jimmy & Terry's production is too much. Virgin wanted this as the second single and Mariah wanted "Never Too Far". Mariah got her way and we see how that turned out, not that it really mattered. "Lead The Way" would have bombed at that point in time too. It's my second favorite on Glitter behind "All My Life" which is one of the most adventuruous tracks she has ever done. My biggest pet peeve with this song is that there are like two notes to the instrumental. It's definitely not Walter Afanasieff's peak work.

The way the keyboards are played reminds me of "You are so Beautiful." I love this performance and this should've been the 2nd single, but I agree, nothing would've been a hit at that point in time.

why did Mariah want Never too Far?? was it because LTW was a walter track? Virgin wanted this as the second single and Mariah wanted "Never Too Far". .

I can see how this song is better than Never Too Far.... but, i don't see how this ballad would have done any better than NTF.....

the vocals on this song are mind-blowing. I love how subtle it is at first, then she takes you on a vocal-range rollercoaster. Seriously, what female singer could duplicate this performance?

not even herself could duplicate this

I think he said that because that final note that last almost 30 seconds was a studio creation.

I think he said that because that final note that last almost 30 seconds was a studio creation. LOL, I remember there being fake "behind the scenes" footage of her recording this is the studio, and she was totally lip-syncing that note. Of course all of the lambs were saying it was real
