Even though this was not one of Diana Ross's bigger hits, "The Boss" is considered by many to be one of her classic records. It's a 1979 uptempo record produced by Ashford & Simpson. It comes from the album of the same name, which many people consider her best LP. It's a well-written song and the production is incredibly lively and energetic. Plus, you get to hear her belting and hitting high notes -- something she rarely did on studio recordings. All-around good song. The extended version is even better than the LP version. The song has been covered quite a few times. Here's a live performance -- not as good as the record though. (Also, try to ignore the dude on the rollerskates... WTF?) I hate it. I generally either hate or love her hits. Very little in between.

Not a big fan of this one. It has not dated well at all.
