I loved this song. It's my second favourite single by them behind "Closer." I thought it was really boring at first, but i grew to really like it. I also like Johnny Cash's remake, but not as much as this.

This was good, but I think his recent singles are better - best of his career in my opinion. I'm probably alone on that though. lol

This is one of those songs that, for me, has more impact written down on paper than it does sung by Trent Reznor.
I think "Hurt" definitley showcases his abilities as a songwriter, but the way those lyrics were presented didn't necessarily do as much for me as they could have if it were produced differently or sung by someone else..... Even so, I still like the song sung by Trent.
And I agree about his recent singles being good. I might not say, for myself, that they're the best of their career. I'd probably say they were on-par, with "Every Day is Exactly The Same" being the stand-out highlight single off "With Teeth".

My favorite line: "I wear this crown of sh*t...". I didn't like how Johnny Cash changed it to "I wear this crown of thorns".
But this is only my third favorite single from The Downward Spiral. I still think its amazing.
1. Closer (A+)
2. Piggy (A)
3. Hurt (A)
4. March of the Pigs (B+)

I've liked most of his recent singles just as much as a lot of the rest of his singles, but this one's my favorite.

The Johnny Cash cover is AMAZING. One of my favorite vocal performances.
