I'm so glad this finally got to #1. As big as "WBT" was, I never heard people singing it or banging it in their car. Everywhere I go people are singing "to da left, to da left!" And every damn car that goes by has this on blast.

The only place I hear this is on the radio (THANK GOODNESS). I love the song, but I'd go crazy if I had to hear it as often as you say you do.

A few months ago I probably would have agreed, and been pissed that Beyonce was #1.

But for this song? Totally deserved. I also hope she gets the message that she should do more stuff like this. It would have annoyed me more if she got #1 with some crap track on the album, but I'm thrilled that people have received this well.

This is definitley in contention for my favorite song of 2006, with the only competition being "Waiting on the World To Change".

While I have heard tons of people blasting Irreplaceable, I heard EVERYONE singing We Belong Together. Whether it was people from my senior year of high school, all of the ladies and girls in the cafeteria my freshman year of college...the best was when it would come on at bars and everyone would go nuts. I think people's recognition of We Belong Together was what made the era so great for me...it proved that she had solidified her comeback.

SOLO SPOTLIGHT: As Chart Beat reader Darrell Roberts of Bethesda, Md. notes, Beyonce has the first truly solo No. 1 of her career, as "Irreplaceable" (Columbia) inces up a notch from No. 2 on the Hot 100.

This is the fourth No. 1 for Beyonce away from Destiny's Child, matching the four No. 1s she had with the group. The solo No. 1s have all been collaborations until now. Jay-Z was featured on "Crazy in Love," Sean Paul was the guest star on "Baby Boy" and Slim Thug had second billing on "Check On It."

Beyonce is the second artist to have two No. 1 hits in 2006. Justin Timberlake did it first with "SexyBack" and "My Love." "Check On It" ruled for five weeks in February-March.

"Irreplaceable" is the 18th song to advance to No. 1 on the Hot 100 in 2006. That's the most No. 1s in a calendar year since 1991, when there were 27.

Beyonce doesn't seem to have any "Superstition" about the number 13 because the 13-letter "Irreplaceable" breaks a six-way tie for the longest single word title to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100. That must be an "Unbelievable" "Heartbreaker" for the six acts that used to share that record with 12-letter one-word titles. But Beyonce can take some "Satisfaction" that she was part one of those acts on Destiny's Child's "Bootylicious."

Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" made it to No. 1 on the Hot 100 this week and that rewrites chart history. In terms of female songwriters, Beyonce moves ahead of Janet Jackson and Carole King and is tied for third place with Diane Warren for nine No. 1s. Madonna is credited with 10 and Mariah Carey has 16.

As I wrote earlier this year, Beyonce is only the second woman to replace herself at No. 1 as a songwriter, having co-written "Grillz" (by Nelly featuring_Paul Wall, Ali and Gipp) and "Check On It" with Slim Thug. Now that "Irreplaceable" has ascended to the top, Beyonce has received songwriting credit for three songs in the same calendar year. The only other women to do that are Mariah Carey (in 1991) and Carole King (in 1971). Quite an accomplishment in a business dominated by men!
