I saw the video for the first time last night. The concept isn't horrible in the hands of someone else I guess, and it fits with the sample, but all the happy-happy '50s sock hop bright vibe is spoiled by that damn "suicidal, suicidal" hook. That part is so stupid.
How in the world did he get signed? He can't sing, he's unattractive, and can't write a song that isn't extremely derivative of a classic.

I actually really like his voice. It's different, and I prefer it to many other male voices on the radio today.

Just seen the video for the first time. I love it. It's so colourful, simple and actually nice to watch and it makes me like the song ten times more.
I know I've said he was fat before based on his album cover, but seriously, he's like dangerously obese. He never moves in the video and looks like he can barely stand up most of the time.

The Hot 100 the week this is released to iTunes is the week when the chart formula is being changed to be more in favour of airplay. Not that it will likely make any difference, since by then this will likey be #1 on Hot 100 Airplay, but wouldn't it be ironic if it got awful sales, but the new formula meant it's airplay could carry it to the top.

Apparently the chart formula is being changed in August (I'm pretty sure it's the week "Beautiful Girls" goes to iTunes) to lean back so airplay becomes more significant than it has been this year. I don't know much about it, or how they're changing it and there hasn't actually been anything about on the website, as far as I know.

I'll hate the Hot 100 again if the #1 song and #1 airplay are always the same again and songs with major sales never get near #1.

at the Billboard dumbasses. This is probably all Disney's fault because they're prepping for the High School Musical 2 onslaught on the charts, but that's just wrong. I think the formula (whatever it is) is perfect how it is now.

I expect it's more to do with the fact that like all of the five biggest jumps to number one have been in the last six months

They know if they wait long enough to release a single, demand will build up and they can get to #1 when they otherwise might not have been able to. Now that's not going to be the case, but I bet we'll see the labels trying even harder.

I'm perfectly fine with it. They're just not counting sales points double anymore because the digital market has exploded since early 2005. So now sales and airplay will be equal. It's not leaning more in favor of airplay. It's going to be equal.

The single is on iTunes. I thought they were waiting until next week for the album version, but I guess not.

But it wont on the next chart. I mean it will, but the next chart is the one that will start to take effect. So his first week in sales will be on the NEW Hot 100.

I saw the video today, I can't believe they edit the word "suicidal." Ridiculous.
