Ileaks strikes again. No idea where this guy/girl is getting all of these new/old unreleased tracks, but he/she will probably be facing a huge lawsuit soon for selling them at these ridicuous prices. They're also responsible for the Katy Perry, Nelly Furtado, Christina, and Kelly Clarkson/Rowland leaks. Anyway, this song sounds great. It sounds like an E=MC2 track (COMMERCIAL!) with better vocals...and shockingly, it has somewhat of a tempo. www.zshare.net/audio/75856951c386255e/

i like this smh. why wasn't it on the album? Because LA Reid, the guy who wanted "I'm That Chick" and "Bye Bye" as the first two singles from E, IBLULT as the third single instead of the obvious "Migrate", the guy which his favorite song on the album "I Stay In Love" was the fourth single, the guy that wanted a pop cover to be the second single from Mariah's most urban album to date and the guy that wanted "Angels Cry" to launch the remix album hated it.

I'd like to hear the full song. I'm not sure if it's single-worthy. I still say "Ribbon" or "Up Out My Face" were the obvious second single choices that were ignored.

I never really got the "Ribbon" love. It just doesn't have a hook to me.

The production might not be very original, but it has BOUNCE. The melody is insane, and the song itself is so well crafted: it's immediately likable with memorable verses, a bridge full of attitude, and a chorus that lingers in your head for hours. Not to mention, thematically, a lot of people would relate. People love songs talking about embracing imperfections and self-esteem ("Beautiful," "Unpretty" etc.)
I also REALLY like the Stevie Wonder reference ("Songs in the Key of Life") and how "song" was emphasized out of key with the vocoder followed by her singing "out of key." This song was really well thought out.
It's also uptempo enough to move to (thanks to those awesome faux-string chords in double-time), and definitely wouldn't sound out of place on the radio. It's like a better "Like A Boy," and production-wise, it kind of sounds like "Knock You Down." Rhythmic would've EATEN IT UP.
The sonic pallet is much more similar to "Standing O" than "Obsessed," in my opinion, and would've made for the perfect second single. While I do really like "Obsessed," and think that it was a great single, I have to say that I prefer the production on this one. Like I said, it's much more danceable, and the combination of the "Candy Bling" organs and the "For The Record" strings is much more powerful than just the muted horns, piano, and fake bass.
Oh, and vocally, it's amazing. The layers of full voice sound so great, and the belting at the end is really guttural and old school. That "ooooohhhhh-ohhhhhh-ohhhhh-oh-oh" is definitely a throwback to the Prisoner belting (4:06 in Prisoner, 3:51 in Imperfect - it's the exact same note!).

You forgot one He and Mariah went head to head on TEOM's third single: he wanted Say Somethin ( ) and she wanted Shake It Off. It's a good thing she won.

Wait until the "imperfect" line and strings get stuck in your head...that's how you know it's single-worthy. It's also so much more uptempo than anything on Memoirs, which is ridiculous, because it's still not even a real uptempo.

This is decent. I don't think it should have been a single or anything, but it definitely could have made her past two albums. I like the chorus the most.

Was this a reject from Memoirs or E=MC2?

The song seems more upbeat than practically anything on E=MC2, but it wouldn't do well as a single. Perhaps on Rhythmic, but Top 40 would have virtually ignored this.

This is really solid. I'm not sure it would've been a hit but it's better than alot of the songs on Memoirs.
