I asked myself that same thing when I saw that. Whats even more unbelievable is that the judges liked it.

I don't know if I should feel bad for them but its kinda embarrassing that the bands that they helped breakthrough (Panic!, Gym Class Heroes) have peaked higher than them.

Some Canadian band called Silverstein quoted Closer first. and yes, they're also a "scene" band.

The best part of the song is the bridge in where Babyface plays the Mandolin. The beginning sounds like Beauty and the Beast music.

"Thanks for the Mamaries" is what I see everytime I read the title.

I've always loved this, and surprised it's taken this long to take off. What's their second single? "False Pretense"

All I can say is enjoy the minor success while it lasts.
Their second single will do nothing.

My 13-year-old teenybopper sister is obsessed with this song.

I've been burnt out on this song since 2006 but I'm not gonna join the hate bandwagon. Being the most original band to come out of Fueled By Ramen, they deserved a #1 with a better song, but oh well.

wm.allaccess.com/allaccess/gymccupi.wmaTheir 2nd mainstream single. This is actually from their first album but now that some stations have started playing it, they're using it to promote their new CD by re-relasing it. They shot a new video for this, which premiered a while ago on TRL. I guess the old one wasn't "hip-hop" enough.

I just turned on Z100 and this was on... and it was a line like "right now she's probably singing some white trash version of Shania kareoke" and I'm like uhhh, did she really just that? Tacky. I thought the same thing when I saw the video on Vh1. I really hate the verses to this song!

Its probably the immature lyrics that make her sound bad. "maybe I'll spend some time to go shopping".

The two songs don't sound alike to me. Maybe the lyrics in the chorus are similar but in melody I can distinguish both.

Didn't she diss Shakira once saying that she shouldn't have a record label because she can't speak English?
