I'm straight and enjoy this...mostly because i like underdogs...but mainstream radio is pretty much like a big gay club anyway.

This is by and far the best thing she has recorded. This is what will give her an identity as an artist. If this is not a hit for her she will never get one.

^I pretty much agree. This will be a hit internationally though. She's not a total nobody overseas, but in the US, if this doesn't become a hit, nothing will. I think they need to promote this, but not set a release date for her album (in the US atleast) until this takes off.

Just about everything she puts out internationally is a hit. I think this is risky for the US because her following is more urban than pop in the US but I think this is good enough to do well if they actually promote it the way it needs to be.

Destiny's Child was pretty mainstream - yes Urban people probably gravitate toward her a little more naturally, but Pop radio and its listeners know who she is. She's an unknown as a solo artist, but she isn't a nobody.

I don't think pop radio fans know her past the girl from Destiney's child.

Well Dilemma was a huge hit and also Stole was a top 10 pop hit so they are not totally unaware of her. The urban audience knows Kelly more though with "Like This" being top 10 there and also "here we go" with Trina went top 10 there but It also went top 20 at pop as well.
She needs to release "Commander" to pop but she also has to release something for her urban audience. She cant abandon that format. Pop is waay too fickled for that.

^I agree. But i think most of her album is going to be dance oriented. I seriously hope they promote the sh*t out of this.

I'm not too keen on this song actually, but it's decent enough.

All of the youtube videos and links are being removed now. I'm wondering if thats a sign her label is getting ready for it.

Ugh at the bridge, it knocks the song down like five letter grades. I can't get past it. The chorus is amazing though, I can't see this being a hit in the US.

I love the bridge too. I thnk this is one of the hottest songs to come out in forever but I dont see it being a hit in the US but it will be massive and launch her as a international superstar everywhere else. She needs something more urban in the US that can crossover to pop.

If Pop has no hesitation playing Taio Cruz, why would they with this? They'd be wise just to market her to Rhythmic and Pop anyway since Rhythmic and Pop hits are usually bigger digital sellers. They could send something else to just Urban - like that new Rico Love song they're doing (sounds like it's called "I Love You"): twitvid.com/P5XB9It sounds really Urban friendly, but not necessarily very poppy.

If Pop has no hesitation playing Taio Cruz, why would they with this? . Radio has been hesitant with playing Kelly in general. Coming from Destiny's Child and playing 2nd string for Beyonce is a huge obstacle for her to overcome. im not saying she cant, but her label and management are going to have to work their asses off, especially if they play on marketing her to pop and rhythmic. And if this does become a hit, they are going to have to work their asses off to get a 2nd one as well. Im happy to hear the Rico Love song sound more urban. I really want them to release something else to urban.

They've hesitated to play her cause her sh*t was just not good. Not to mention, there was like no promo or hype for ANY of her eras. This is the most hype I've actually seen her have EVER as a solo artist. Like I've said before, she CAN get a hit out of this, but she needs to BUST HER ASS! It aint gonna be easy.
I'm happy to hear that the label rushed out promo CD's. That means they were on top of the leak. I'm glad that they kept the song up as long as they did though cause its worked its way around the net and people have heard it and like it. She needs hype to get this off the ground.
Also happy to hear that Rico Love song sound more Urban. I hope she can get 2 hits out at the same time.

I don't understand why she would cater to Urban. That's stupid, she did that last time and she bombed. Songs like this are what are gonna give her an identity, and make her a go to person to add to radio stations.

"Decent sized" and "Top 30 on BB100" don't scream "let's try again" to me. I see no reason they shouldn't try something else, and this is all kinds of hot. IMO, this was absolutely the right step to take. Even if it's not huge in the US, the international market for dance music is a heckuva lot bigger than the urban market. She's already started to crack it thanks to her feature on "When Love Takes Over," and this feels like a perfect follow up to it.
