I don't understand why she would cater to Urban. That's stupid, she did that last time and she bombed. Songs like this are what are gonna give her an identity, and make her a go to person to add to radio stations. "Like This" was a decent sized hit at Urban, and was top 30 on BB100. Right. Massive hit. It really helped the album sell and spend 10 weeks at number one. Why aren't they doing that again?!

Ok first of all "Like this" didnt even go for pop adds. Her label didnt do anything to really push her to be a success. She had a massive world wide hit with "Work" and they didnt even bother to release it in the US on ANY format. So i wouldnt use that album as a blueprint for what she should or should not do again because making Kelly Rowland a star wasnt the objective.
Second, she has an urban audience that she shouldnt ignore or alienate because thats really the only audience she has somewhat secured at this point and getting a pop hit isnt going to guarantee album sales anyway. The best approach for Kelly is a song that can be a massive hit at urban and rhythmic and cross over to pop. Because even if this song does manage to become a hit, I dont see pop radio giving her a string of hits no matter how good her material is.

Commander is an excellent choice for first single! it will be HUGE internationally! They should just do a dual single for the US! send this to pop and dance, and have another single to cater for urban.

COMMANDER (URBAN MIX)
Commander’ is officially getting the urban treatment. Songwriter Rico Love (who penned it), played the R&B mix of the track!
They are going to add a rapper to this remix too!!!! but dont know which rapper yet....

She said she wanted to work with Diddy or T.I maybe they could get on the remix, or there's always her label mates Drake, or Nicki Minaj maybe. i can hear Luda on this too.

I would love to hear Drake over this, and even Minaj.
Diddy or T.I., not so much... but T.I. anyday over Diddy

Wow, the Urban remix is hot as HELL. I like it more than the original. Ludacris would be perfect for it.

Yeah, I like it WAAAAAAY more than the regular version as well. Which is funny, because the lyrics are about dancing and you can't really do it to the Urban version (well, you can, but it will be more stripperish, nothing wrong with that!)
And I love that they got rid of the hideous bridge and are putting a rapper in place of it. They need a really hot verse though.
HAWT!

I like it, but the album version is a jam that isn't comparable.
What I wonder is what it would sound like if this were put in a "LoveStoned/I Think She Knows" type of fashion.

Well, the HQ may sound better. I guess this is a good move either way, cause they'll probably send the Urban mix to Urban/Rhythmic/Pop and the album version to Rhythmic/Pop/Dance. Then the Rhythmic/Pop stations can play both or whichever they prefer. So, seems like a good move to me. However, I prefer the original by a long shot.

The Urban remix completely kills the energy of the song; it's completely lifeless. Reminds me of the first time I heard Jeremih's "Birthday Sex" outside of a club...why would I want to listen to the boring-ass version when there's a hot club mix?

Yeah the lyrics don't sound right over the beat, it's like a slow song but the lyrics are completely up tempo.
