mms://66.186.0.101/allaccess/arctibet.wma"I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor" No official release to US radio yet, but this is catching on slowly at Alternative radio on its own. I'm sure an eventual release to radio is inevitable, and I can see this becoming a Top 10 Alternative hit here once their label gets their act together.

I like it enough, but it isn't one of my favorites off the album.

I'm sure an eventual release to radio is inevitable, and I can see this becoming a Top 10 Alternative hit here once their label gets their act together. I believe the Monkeys were of the opinion that Domino's US distributor in charge of the launch of Franz Ferdinand were guilty (in their opinion) of sending their songs to radio too quickly, hence Domino linking up with a new US distributor (and, I believe, a newly formed company) for the Monkeys' launch here. That's probably the reason why this hasn't been sent to radio yet. Only time will tell whether the strategy is a good one, I suppose. I think Domino are very wary of the crazy UK hype taking over in the US as well. I agree with Nothing Compares 2 U, although it is a great 'launching pad' single, IMO there are far better songs on the album.

I was watching some videos on Yahoo! Music, and a video for one of their songs randomly came up. It wasn't for this song, but I liked it.

They have only released 3 promo videos. 1. Fake Tales Of San Francisco - a very limited release single (2,000 copies) released by themselves before they were signed, accompanied by a video shot on a £400 mini DV cam by a friend of theirs. And it's brilliant IMO.The limited release single currently goes for silly money on ebay! 2. I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor - first 'proper' single release after being signed by Domino. Interestingly, a completely live rendition of the single, and shot with authentic 1970s BBC TV cameras to give the video the look of the seminal BBC live music show from the 70s/80s, Old Grey Whistle Test. 3. When The Sun Goes Down - shot on location in the less lagubrious areas of their home town of Sheffield, and starring one of the actors from the film, Snatch. This is actually a short film and the video is just a series of short clips from it. The film is to be released as a DVD shortly. They are all availabe to watch here: www.mardy-bum.com/?page=videosEdit: I particularly recommend their 3 song live set from Later With Jools Holland. Their first ever TV appearance - stunning!

I had to LOL when he said "thank you to the Radio 1 listeners... you've been listening well" You've certainly heard of his band, CaptainOats. That's the one and only Keith Murray from We Are Scientists! The bands struck up a great friendship during the NME Awards tour. What a stroke of genius getting him to accept the award as if he was one of the Monkeys! lol!

It's good to see We Are Scientists getting some recogition over there too, since radio is ignoring them in their own country.

One week before officially being sent to radio, it's the 8th greatest gainer on the chart and on 53 stations already.

A bit of a novice with this sort of stuff I'm afraid, Captain. I'm assuming that's pretty good? It's very good. It means stations are taking notice of this song on their own and putting it right into rotation. Does it mean it'll definitely become a hit after the official release? Not necessarily, but it is a very encouraging sign.

Thanks for that. Could this be due to them knowing it's going to be performed on SNL or will the real radio activity start after the show? I just wonder if the radio bods would be clued up enough to know about the SNL appearance, you reckon?

Thanks for that. Could this be due to them knowing it's going to be performed on SNL or will the real radio activity start after the show? I think it has to do with the hype they have in the indie underground here, their hype in rock music magazines, and to an extent their success in the UK. A lot of the Alternative stations really lean towards indie music or true Alternative music, and I think those stations are all anxious for this single. But, we also have a lot of "Alternative" stations that really don't play a lot of "true" Alternative music and instead go for more generic Rock bands. The overall success of this song depends on the ability to win over all of the stations, like Coldplay and The Killers have, as two examples. I doubt it. Maybe they'll hear about it after the performance, but generally speaking upcoming TV appearances don't have much effect on the Rock charts.

It's the greatest gainer at Alternative. I didn't like this much at first, but I really like it now. I think with the right promotion, this song could be huge. They'd probably be one-hit wonders though. lol

They'd probably be one-hit wonders though. lol Their next single (When The Sun Goes Down) is IMHO a much better song. I think these will be the 2 songs they play on SNL, although they may substitute When The Sun Goes Down with Ritz to the Rubble. Should be interesting to see what sort of reaction their appearance provokes. They are incomparable live iMHO.

This is up to #23 and still in the Top 5 greatest gainers.
Was the video ever sent out here? I haven't seen it at all which makes me think it was never even released considering their buzz.
