sh*t. I somehow knew they were going to go for this. I really wanted "Arpeggi/Weird Fishes" for the first single.

I think this was the best choice from the album for a single. It isn't as good as some of the other songs, but it's one of the few that sounds like it could have a place on the radio, and it's far more accessible than most of the other songs.

This isn't the first single.
"Jigsaw Falling Into Place" is officially the 1st single and will be released physically on 14 January 2008 (in the UK).

Yeah, I was just about to post that this isn't the single...unless they're releasing a different song internationally.

So if random radio stations decide to play a record, it instantly becomes a single. Only in America.

So if random radio stations decide to play a record, it instantly becomes a single. Only in America. It's only because we usually don't get physical singles here anymore and Radiohead isn't promoting anything specific in the US Most of the songs on the Alternative chart don't have physical singles, a few have Itunes ones though. They're only singles here because they get pushed to radio, so you're right there, we're weird like that I only said unofficial in this case because the song wasn't pushed by a record label and I don't think radiohead chose it themselves, but I could be wrong. I don't think the US will be getting any 'official' single.

Even though I still don't consider this to be one of the highlights from IR, it actually sounds REALLY good on the radio.

This is almost top 20 and the third greatest gainer! Does anyone know Radiohead's alternative charting history?

Thank you. They seem to have modest support over the years.

What about Street Spirit, 2+2=5 (which I heard on KRBZ a lot), Paranoid Android, and No Surprises?

This is definitely not my favorite track on the album, but I am so glad to see it is the second greatest gainer and on its way to top ten.

Yeah. Wow. This could end up being second to "Creep".

"Karma Police" only #14?! I thought that was a #1 hit. And "Paranoid Andriod" never charted?!

I can't believe Creep is their biggest hit - I don't think Thom even likes playing it anymore.
Paranoid Andriod is their biggest UK hit - got to #3.

"Creep" easily feels like their biggest hit to me at least. I still hear it fairly regularly and know all the words. I don't think I could even sing two lines of any other Radiohead song honestly. That's probably why Thom hates it.

"Creep" seems like it was huge to me. I was too young to remember it being a hit, but I hear it on the radio at least two times a week still and have pretty much every week going back to when I started listening to rock radio in '97.
"Karma Police" seems pretty famous to me too. It's their only other song that I still hear somewhat frequently now. And I remember seeing the animated video for "Paranoid Android" a lot in the 90's. It really never charted or is that just an oversight?

Haha, very true! I've just realised... NO Pyramid Song either! Bad American radio!

Oh yeah- I also hear "High And Dry" sometimes still as well. I would have expected a higher peak for that one.
I'm not sure if "Pyramid Song" ever got released here.

I'm so chuffed this is doing well. It's going to be their second biggest hit any day now.
