Ya, I can't imagine anyone is surprised to see this doing well. He was always a favourite on the show and he's recording the kind of music that people are listening to. I'm surprised that it's doing anything over at the rock formats, but on pop he was practically guaranteed a hit. I wouldn't be remotely surprised if he proved to be the biggest thing Idol delivers in the States after Kelly and Carrie.

Chris and his fake ass manufactured boy band are so overrated  he sounds like a f**king goat. of course, i'm not surprised he's doing well because he fits into the mold of a sound that's very popular right now, which he has in common with the most successful AI alums. Kelly just ran with the Avril/Ashlee/Hilary sound except with more talent, and Carrie is just another strong voiced blonde girl that country music loves. Chris is easy to market, at least with his anonymous bandmates in tow. This song is also being used in Prison Break commercials. |

This is shaping up to be at least a decent-sized hit. Just added at Z100, and second most added (was this its impact week or was last week?) Top 40 with a +591 bullet. We'll have to wait and see how this holds up over the holiday break, but one of two things is going to happen here - either the bullet is going to decay once it reaches the Top 25 and it will peak around #20, or it will ride the huge bullet straight top to the Top 10. Based on the relatively early support, part of me is leaning towards the latter scenario.
As far as my personal opinion on the song, I think it's formulaic as hell, and the lyrics are sucky. But Chris' voice is so good that it makes it work. I'm still slightly surprised by his success in general, but hey, he made a record that worked for radio (even though this garnering any spins at Alternative seems odd too).

The one thing that kind of bothers me about this song is that he sounds terrible when he sings the line "this love is KILLING ME". He sings totally out of his range.
