This is going to flop so bad. She has songs with better lyrics, songs that are catchier, and songs that would resonate better with radio listeners on the album.. and she goes with this.

This is one of my least favorite songs on the album. I really don't want this as a single. However, this is actually a fan favorite so there's definitely a lot of people who like this song. Even still, outside of her base I don't see many people grasping this. If this flops, it won't matter what song she releases next because it'll be a little too little too late, so hopefully this works out afterall.

I read many times she was going to record a video for How Do You Do...

She had such a good launching pad for this album with "La Tortura." I can't believe how badly she' s f**king it up.

What I meant was the success of "La Tortura" meant that Shakira should've been able to get quite a few hits with Vol 2, but instead she's choosing songs that aren't appropriate for radio ("Don't Bother" is a good single choice, but not as lead single). At this rate, I'm half expecting "Timor" to be the next single (great as the song is, it's a surefire bomb on Pop radio).

"How Do You Do" has better lyrics AND is catchier and I think more radio listeners would like and relate to "Illegal" and "Hey You". It doesn't matter what she releases though. The album is done at radio.

I disagree with you about "How Do You Do", but I strongly agree with you about "Illegal" and "Hey You"

Honestly, I think Shakira and her label f**ked up by not going to HAC. "Don't Bother" sounds like a modern update of so many HAC golds. I think it would have gone Top 20 then. Then, she would have multiple follow-up choices. So many songs on the album are extremely HAC-friendly, just not Pop-friendly. "The Day And The Time" sounds like a huge HAC hit. I wonder why her label is continually blind to that format.

I think Hey You is the only song on OF2 that has a chance on U.S. radio. Oral Fixation 2 is not a radio friendly project, especially for the U.S. Which is why I love it so much. I don't expect Shakira to get one hit off this album, but I hope it will go platinum based on video play.
But, I do think it's funny that she's releasing this song because of the "lo, le, lo" beginning, which is all American radio wants from Shakira. She obviously threw that in as a screw you to those who want to pigeon-hole her after W/W.
Edit: I do think that this album fits in better at HAC than at Pop, especially "Illegal". My mom is in LOVE with that song and made me burn her a copy when I was visiting for Christmas.

My mom who isn't into pop music at all loved the lyrics to How Do You Do and was surprised by that side of Shakira.

Nothing confirmed about Animal City...
I read several articles where it was written that she was planning to record a video for her new single (?) How Do You Do.
But I think Animal City is a better choice. I hope Illegal (LOVE this song!!) and Timor will be released next.

NO! "How Do You Do" screams hit to me! It'd flop so hard. The only other obvious single save Don't Bother is Hey You.

I don't understand why people say HDYD would flop. The chorus sounds so Top 40 to me. haha

I don't understand why people say HDYD would flop. Sure, it's catchy (Not to me, but I can see how people would think that) but the lyrics would fly over so many peoples heads. I could see people just staring at it like "WTF?" She needs something that you don't need brains to like. "Illegal" should be next, and then end the album with "Hey You" if it (The Album) makes it that far.

The religious right would go insane if she released How Do You Do? Not that contraversy is always bad for album sales, but it would be a problem. And I think releasing a ballad when the first single under-performs is a mistake. I would release the singles like this:
Don't Bother Hey You (it's got that annoying catchy vibe of Hollaback Girl IMO) Illegal Costume Makes the Clown How Do You Do?/Timor

Dreams For Plans is the 3rd single (from a Spanish article)

Of course, if Shakira wants this to be a huge hit, all she has to do is make a reggaeton remix.

Dreams For Plans is the 3rd single (from a Spanish article) I'm disappointed with her single choices from both albums. It's like she has these obvious songs to release and she's not releasing them.
