I don't want this to outpeak "Otherside" unless this becomes a huge multi-format radio hit. Just because I love "Otherwside" so much more than this and that song seemed so huge. Definitely. Otherside is a classic. And I still think Dani is easily their worst lead single, even though it's really good.

Does anyone have the Hot 100 history for the Red Hot Chili Peppers? If not, their Alternative chart history would be good enough.

Thanks! Wow, Dani California will probably be their second biggest hit on the Hot 100. And I thought "Give it Away" was a bigger hit than that. It felt so much bigger than that peak suggests.

It was still a huge hit and one of their most played songs to date..I'm pretty sure people just bought the album becuase no commercial single was ever released. It's exactly like the Green Day singles from Dookie...especially Basketcase and When I Come Around...they were huge, but never released as commercial singles so their Billboard Hot 100 peaks are really low.

Songs needed commercials singles to chart so "Give It Away" had to have one. Green Day didn't release singles for either of those songs and they didn't chart at all.

It ties "Scar Tissue" for their second biggest Hot 100 hit jumping 24-9 this week.

It ties "Scar Tissue" for their second biggest Hot 100 hit jumping 24-9 this week. Which I'm so undecided on. On one hand I'm thrilled one of my favorite bands is so successful chart-wise right now. On the other hand, I think it's bullsh*t that this is even half as big as "Scar Tissue." That song is a timeless multi-format smash that holds the record for most weeks at #1 on Alternative, not to mention it's what I consider by far their best song.

Everytime they play this on KRBZ, Kansas City (which I can listen to now at college because it's streaming..), someone calls in and tears it apart, almost always mentioning Last Dance W/ Mary Jane. I really hope the next single is better.

I would agree that this isn't as great as their last two lead-off singles, but I prefer to judge this song on its own merits, and I think it'san excellent song that deserves to be #1.

www.citydisc.ch/music/detail.cfm?lang=d&art_nr=9408899Clips of the album....it sounds very underwhelming to say the least. Tell Me Baby is the next single and it's one hundred times poppier than ANYTHING on By The Way. The whole thing is mostly lite-funk and acoustic ballads with big melodic choruses that sound like rehashes of either Scar Tissue or Tear/Dosed. Hopefully some of these grow on me..I actually think Desecration Smile is a standout. It sounds like this really should have been one album...so much of it sounds the same and is so boring. There aren't any classics on here like "Otherside" or "Can't Stop", either.

Unfortunately I don't have time to listen to all thse clips. Based on the 6 or 7 I listed to, it sounds good to me though... just not really anything amazing. It's going to be one of the year's better albums, but it really doesn't progress from where they left of. "Snow" sounds like a good song from the clip. "Charlie" gives me Sublime vibes lol.

Charlie is definitely my favorite of the clips, and yeah, it is very Sublime'ish. I can't wait to hear the whole thing.

I just looked at all the album tracks they've been playing recently...so I think it's safe to say the singles will be from the following, since they've performed them numerous times: Dani (obviously) Tell Me Baby (confirmed) Charlie 21st Century Desecration Smile 21st Century doesn't really sound like a single, so I hope it's not. They've played the following once: ReadyMade Snow Hump De Bump She's Only 18 Wet Sand Hard to Concentrate I just heard the full version of Charlie (live) and I love it. It has some AMAZING guitar work by John, just like Dani. I really wish it was the second single, even though Tell Me Baby is safer. Charlie is also the universal favorite on their official message board. Charlie (live HQ): rapidshare.de/files/19111461/03-Charlie.mp3.html

Charlie is quickly becoming one of my favorite Chili Peppers songs in a LONG time. It's just so damn funky and catchy!

How many weeks has this been #1 at Alternative now? I really don't want it to beat "Scar Tissue"'s format record!
