I'm definitely hoping for a Freemasons Remix of "1973" complete with naff sped-up video, though LOL

Thanks for the explanation. Tong played his and Spoon's remix on last Friday's show. You can listen again online here: www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/networks/radio1/aod.shtml?radio1/tong#Approx 1hr 12mins in (it's fairly unrecognisable from the original) .It's approx 8 mins long and JBs voice kicks in after approx 6 mins!

My God, Atlantic are breaking the habit of a lifetime and really chucking money at promoting him, aren't they?

This is actually REALLY good because I just noticed they won't let you buy only the song. You can only buy the entire Vingle.

Precisely, it actually costs twice as much as all the other songs in that chart so it's a pretty amazing result. He was featured on gmtv this morning (his villa looks rather snazzy, I have to say). www.gm.tv/index.cfm?articleid=24657

Guess i spoke to soon. It'll rebound once they let you buy the song instead of only the whole "vingle"

I really am not happy with the US promo for this, especially after it did so well in the UK.

I actually really like the video. It reminds me of my old college town - walking around the streets that you could tell used to be really prosperous 20 years ago, but not it's all rundown, vacant buildings. Ah, I miss it

Now that I've heard the whole album, "1973" is by far his best chance at another US radio hit. And it's flopping hardcore. So I guess that settles the "one hit wonder" debate once and for all

^ Yeah, I keep forgetting that "Goodbye My Lover" flopped in the US. Everywhere else, "1973" is becoming his third or fourth major hit.

^ Yeah, I keep forgetting that "Goodbye My Lover" flopped in the US. Yeah, again because the label messed up. That song was about to explode in downloads and had a video featuring one of the "it-girls" of the time... but they went with another song instead as the follow-up single to "YB" and by the time they got around to "GML" again, it was way too late.
