wm.allaccess.com/allaccess/jame1973.wmaThis will be the lead single from James' sophomore album. It's due to hit radio next month. I don't know what to think of the title. I don't get pop culture references from before 1994 and I'm already old by current standards, so I don't see this connecting with a young audience but who knows.

Rolling Stone describes this as a "nostalgic, disco-flavored jam."
It was produced by Mark Batson- the man behind Dave Matthews Band's most recent (and worst to date- but still good) album. Tom Rothrock (who produced all of James' debut) also put his hands on this song to contribute to the final version.

lol disco didn't really exist in 1973 yet...it came more like in the mid-late '70s, but again that would make it too Smashing Pumpkins like..

Rolling Stone describes this as a "nostalgic, disco-flavored jam." That really puts me in the mindset of "Makes Me Wonder", which it's obviously (hopefully) going to be nothing like. However, I'm pretty sure when people heard that "MMW" was going to be disco tinged that reaction wasn't good, and they pulled it off, so we'll see.

I really can't imagine him pulling off a disco-tinged record... But we'll have to see.

Another James quote on this song from the same article: "I wasn't around in 1973, so it must've rhymed with something."

I sense a flop. It'll be weird to hear him singing something more upbeat, since he's structured with ballads.

Couldn't make out much and I'm not very good at describing music anyway, the interview is probably online, though.

This will either be amazing or horrible. I don't see it being just good. LOL. I have a feeling this is going to fall short of amazing and I can think of far more horrible artists. I'm expecting it to either be "decent" "kind of good" or "annoying."
