Truly astonishing, emotional performance. Within 3 hours of this performance the song (even though it hasn't been released as a single) is up to number 4 on the UK itunes singles chart.

She has been giving some amazing performances this go around. This song is gorgeous.
I was disturbed to see a video of her smoking the other day, thankfully I've read that she recently quit.

That Adele reign just won’t let up! Following the soul songstress’ performance of “Someone Like You” at the BRIT Awards, the tearjerker has now shot straight to the top of the UK iTunes chart. The live BRIT Awards version is currently No.1, while the album version sits at No.4, and her other single “Rolling in the Deep” sits at No. 5.
Her album 21 has also been at the top of the UK charts since it’s release, and is still outselling the rest of the top five combined in it’s third week.
You can’t go anywhere without seeing Adele right now. Even all the pop blogs who ignored her before are feverishly covering her every move in the wake of her chart topping success, and anticipation for her US launch is huge, with most people expecting her to nab a No.1 on the Billboard 200 by the end of the month.

The live version is streaking away at the top of itunes and the (inferior) album version is number 4 so as the sales of the 2 are combined to determine chart success, at the moment she's beating both Jessie J and GaGa to in the race for number 1 this week. Extraordinary when you realise this song isn't actually released as a single. Nice to see Jessie J giving her a standing O at the end. img829.imageshack.us/img829/5161/itunesuk201102170430.jpg

I love this song. I'm glad it's overshadowing "Set Fire To The Rain".

It's basically Adele's 'You're Beautiful' (gonna be massive the world over) but won't get as annoying when it inevitably gets overplayed. Incidentally, if/when it IS officially released as a single, I hope it's the live version that is, as the album version is nowhere near as good. Still great but loses a lot of the emotional power how it's sung on the album. Amazing thing is they have been showing this video on the UK TV music channels so the video is already done and cost nothing! Absolutely no reason to shoot another video for this song, everything that needs to be seen is right there already.

Adele has scored her first number one single as “Someone Like You” climbs 47 spots on the UK Charts to reach No.1. The huge chart rise is mainly due to Adele’s live performance of the ballad at the BRIT Awards, which caused the song to shoot straight to the top of iTunes as soon as it was released.
While “Someone Like You” sits at No.1, Adele’s previous single “Rolling in the Deep” climbs one spot to No.4, her album 21 remains at No.1, and her debut album 19 rises two spots to No.4. This astonishing accomplishment of having two songs and two albums simultaneously in the top five equals a record set for by The Beatles back in 1964.
We’ll see if Adele’s international success translates over to America when she releases 21 in the US later this week.

Mark my words, a worldwide SMASH! And a song that not just in my experience but thousands of those commenting on youtube can be played endlessly without any sort of fatigue/boredom. It's going to be a HUGE worldwide seller. HUGE.
PS What a shame that how the US singles market is structured means this may not be the number 1 it deserves to be. No matter, this will be number 1 in most other places around the globe.

The album version is so unassuming, but the BRITs performance is downright epic.
