Their very first single, "Do You Right" was terrific. And at the time, it was well ahead of its time, a good 2-3 years before the ska, regaee phase of the mid 90's.
I'm starting to hear this more and more. It's incredibly bland.

You're right, this probably will bomb big time. I think 311 has turned into a pure singles band. And they're good for about one per album with lots of filler in between.

"For the Movies" was good, and "Lit Up" was a pretty cool song. But this is just annoying.

This has to be one of the most boring songs i've ever heard. I couldn't even get through it. I agree it's boring. I enjoy it on the CD, but on its own it doesn't work. There were better choices for 3rd single IMO.

This is officially my favorite song right now. Though I have a feeling I might tire of it quickly.

This really grew on me also. I totally wrote it off after the first listen, but now I think it'll be around for most of the summer.

It's not bad but this song comes off a little cheezy and doesn't really sound like them. And for some reason the beginning kind of reminds me of the opening of the American version of "The Office"

His last album was good! I was a big Smiths fan, but most of his solo work has been so-so. "Irish Blood English Heart" got quite a bit of play. I'll have to check this one out.

I really like this also! It's just a straight-forward catchy rock song.

Finally cracked the top 50. This single just came out way too late.

mms://66.186.0.101/allaccess/depesuff.wmaThe long awaited second single off of "Playing the Angel" will be 'Suffer Well.' This goes for adds (officially) on the first week of February. This was changed first from 'A Pain That I'm Used To' which bombed in the UK. And then from 'Join The Revelator' which would have been a terrific single choice, but isn't ready yet and will be the 3rd single if there is one (which there deserves to be).

Same here, it's my favorite song on the album by far.

I also prefer "Walk Away" which really deserves a release. This is good though - like you said hopefully it will do well enough to warrant another single.

You can't say the trailer is modest I really can't tell if I'll like the song or not from that clip.

Yep, they've done a pretty good job of keeping this song from leaking.

This is being featured right now in an ad campaign for a computer company. Intel I think. Saw the ad last night.

Well it's 6 months late because of a US distributor issue, but this now officially goes for adds on 6/19.
Even though I like this, it got old kind of fast. Their second and third singles, were much better in my opinion, especially their 2nd, "Wake Up." Maybe if we get lucky they'll release two singles in the US.

One of my favorite bands, The Living End is releasing their 4th album in February. The first single, already released in their native Australia is "What's On Your Radio." But there's not a date for US release yet. They've made questionable single choices in the past which is why I think they don't get much respect over in the US, but this song is catchy enough to make a minor impact on Alternative, much like their past singles. "Prisoner of Society" hit #23 in 1999, "Roll On" hit #33 in 2001, and "Who's Gonna Save Us" hit #26 in 2004. This should see the about the same level of success I imagine. The song is streaming on their myspace page www.myspace.com/thelivingend

I discovered this song back in August after hearing it in a bar oddly enough. About a month ago I even bought the album since it was only $9.99 at Tower and I'm such a sucker for CD's under 10 bucks.
If you only even slightly like this, you might want to check the live album out. There's a slightly different version of it on there, which is more upbeat, but not necessarily better. But there are a lot of other excellent tracks on there. It's definitely a solid album.

New York #5: Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah is a Brooklyn band. Supposedly their album was one of the best reviewed of 2005, but it could have been any track since they never released an official single. I saw them live, wasn't terribly impressed.

I've never tired of this song. It's one of their best in years. If they get a 2nd US single, it's already confirmed to be " A Pain that I'm Used To" which would be a terrific follow-up.

It took me a while to warm up to this song since I'm not a huge Coldplay fan. But it's really grown on me now.
