Semi-blowing up at Urban; it's currently sitting at #42 with a +370 bullet. We'll see if it keeps up, but maybe this won't end up DOA after all. I can see it pulling in nice downloads once they send it to iTunes.

I'm shocked at a) how many people seem to know this song already and b) how many people are struggling to catch what exactly "If You Seek Amy" means. I talked to someone today who thought it was about the paparazzi.

Heard it on The Beat last night. Someone said a few pages back that this sounds like a mess on the radio and I absolutely concur. Not surprising, but still...
And you think Ciara improves the song? I'm still trying to decide which version is worse.

The production and lyrics are even cheesier than "Leavin'"... but there's something I like about this. It sounds dated, but somehow it actually works. I'm not sure what the Ludacris remix accomplishes, other than maybe helping to get some rhythmic-leaning stations on board. It's not bad, just somewhat left-field.

I called it!
Ugh, this isn't even a remotely objective report, but I guess it's not supposed to be. At least get your facts straight, though. This chick has all these melodramatic expressions and goes, "This song IS playing on the radio, your kids HAVE heard it and it will be playing while you drive them to school." Umm, it's playing on 3 FM stations in light rotation so far, and many stations that add this wouldn't dare let it into morning drive. And bleeping the entire line out just makes the profanity more egregious.

I'm going to get throttled for this...but I found this way overrated.

They are talking about this on CNN right now. The edit to "see Amy" was not good enough for the anchorman. Sure you weren't watching Fox News? That reminds me, Bill O'Reilly is going to have a field day with this. Ugh. The fact that this is cable news fodder before the song's even been released validates all of our concerns. I know they say that there's no such thing as bad press, but that's not true for Britney, especially at this juncture.

And that's when Jive should have said "HELL NO, focus on your tour," assuming that's true.
93-3 FLZ in Tampa added this recently. Apparently, they cut the "k" out of "seek" and substitute "MJ" (their morning show) for "Amy." That's smart from a programming perspective, but I bet it sounds ridiculous strictly from a musical standpoint. I'll say it again - if stations have to resort to tactics like that, there is no justifying this release.

I bet downloads for this are going to spike once the Flo Rida record really starts to take off. Insanely fun song, an 80's classic without a doubt. It peaked at #13 at CHR in 1985 - that's a little before my time, but this seems vastly more famous than its chart run would indicate.

I remember this got pushed to Pop like three times, and finally saw some success the final time around due to the aforementioned TV promotion. Truthfully, I was really never here nor there with respect to this song. Pleasant enough, but perfectly bland. I still hear it from time to time on KISSFM.

Random-ass blast from the past - 2001, more specifically. 4th grade JAM! Needless to say, the message flew directly over my head. I'm listening now for the first time in years; the pro-abstinence lyrics were incredibly corny and probably hindered the chart performance, but the production is still hot even today.

Already? Damn, that was quick. I've only heard it on the radio once, not that I'm complaining.

I got the same exact impression. Frankly, I don't feel it's unreasonable given that their current Rock single is entitled "Something In Your Mouth" - and yes, the titular "something" is exactly what you think - and that they also have a song on their album called "S.E.X."

Another lead single disappointment, as far as I'm concerned. It's not downright horrible, but I hold U2 to a higher standard than this. The chorus is weak, the bridge is irritating; on the whole it's a non-event. However, "Vertigo" wasn't the best they had to offer last time around - hopefully that pattern repeats itself this era.

Brilliant song, but I can't envision it catching on at Pop. Would I love to be wrong? Absolutely....but realistically speaking, this isn't the type of Alternative material that CHR programmers generally embrace.

This has probably become my favorite Keane song. The melancholy lyrics really hit home, the vocals are spot-on, and despite some similarities to "Somewhere Only We Know," the instrumentation fits perfectly. Really awesome stuff.

Obviously not legit. What would they do, retitle the song "Ha Ha Hee Hee Ha Ha Ho?" Jive is either going to scrap this or be majorly disappointed with this song's performance.

This may not sound current in the sense that it doesn't blend in with the Katy Perry/Pink/Kelly/Veronicas dancey pop-rock sound, but that doesn't mean it sounds dated.
As a matter of fact, this is now easily my favorite Britney song ever. We went crazy when they played it at our school dance last night, and it sounds HOT as hell on the radio. She really deserves a #1 with this, hopefully Kanye doesn't prevent that - deserving as "Heartless" is. It'd be even nicer if "Sober" went all the way for a week, too.

I said in the "Put It On Ya" thread that his material is getting nastier, but after hearing this I think it's just getting worse. I don't even think Ashanti sounds particularly good, the production sucks, and the lyrics are typical Plies...draw your own conclusions from there.

I'm pretty sure Plies needs to go into therapy. His singles have been getting progressively more gross and ridiculous. I can't even pick out a single standout line, they're ALL absurd. Having said that, this song gives me a good laugh every time.

My feelings exactly. The lead singer's vocals resemble those of a crappier Billy Corgan.

The adds date isn't until January 27, but that didn't stop 18 stations from making this fifth most added at Pop this week. Big names on board include Q102, Y100 (no surprise there) and Channel 933.
