New Young Pony Club dropped a fantastic album in 2007 and then fell silent. But they're back now with The Optimist, which is more of their signature glossy 1980s pop sound, though maybe a little darker.
The reviews have been very positive and it's a nice album, but not quite as immediate and catchy as their debut.
Here's "Chaos," the first single:

Man, I am so effing excited for the return of Foals!! They released one of the best singles of 2007 ("Hummer") and one of my favorite albums of 2008. I really hope they bring it this time around. The new album is called Total Life Forever and it's supposedly much mellower and more sparse than their first album. There's a track-by-track review at NME. They love the album! So far, the only song I've heard is the amazing "Spanish Sahara" ( LINK). Yannis sounds awesome! The first single is supposedly "This Orient," which I haven't heard yet. It's out 3 May 2010!

I guess they've abandoned the album. Not too disappointed about that. I hope he gets a hit out of this.
I've never heard of this comic, but I hope this movie will mean a lot of exposure for Mika.

I like this a lot. Looking at the Jimmy Fallon clip reminded me how beautiful she is.

I don't get the strategy behind this. I think "Lil' Freak" still has potential to be a bigger hit and they are going to thwart it by releasing this single.
Also, the problem with all these single releases is that you'll just make it apparent to everyone that all the tracks on the album are terrible.

Funny, I didn't know this was a Timbaland production. Busta's flow is great but I think the beat ruins the song.

Not sure about the most current numbers, but it had broken 200,000 by December 2009. LINK

Haha! I hadn't thought about this song in years, but it just leapt into my mind. Hilarious, funny lyrics and hot beat. LINK

I feel like they made a conscious choice to leave the forefront of alternative. They had to have known that there were no big hits on the album They could certainly become popular again, but nothing like the hype they had when they first appeared.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I was a basically a groupie all the way through the second album. But this third album is a snooze-fest with a couple of decent tracks thrown in.
IMO their last good single was "Teddy Picker."

Yeah, this is hot. That beat is stellar.
I also like the remix with Missy (though not as much as the original)

This is all right. It is one of my least favorite songs on the album, but everything on the album was solid.

I guess this was announced three weeks ago, but I'm just learning about it.

It's one of my favorites on the album, but it's not really an exciting record. Nonetheless, it's probably the most radio friendly song on the album.
Since the last single barely scraped the top 100, I don't expect this to do very much.

Not impressed on first listen. But I'll reserve judgment until I hear the studio version.

This track and video slipped by me last year. This is from the New Moon soundtrack. Lupe took on a rock song and nailed it to the wall. I'm officially excited for his album.

Watching all the threads in the E=MC2 and Memoirs/Advocate eras have been depressing. It's really sad to see how Mariah's lambs have become. I think it's sad that they really cannot accept that Mariah's time as an Top 40 Urban/Pop artist is pretty much over and she really needs to move on. I don't think she'll move on even though the fans are, which is pretty damn sad. Mariah is by no means at her peak, but she's definitely not irrelevant yet (in the US). "Obsessed" and "Touch My Body" were top 10 hits in 2008 and 2009. So, there's enough remaining interest in her to have a smash hit if she comes with something strong. Her problem since TEOM is that she has recorded potential hits, but not released them.

Yeah, Nicki is slowly becoming the new T-Pain with all these cameos.

Amazing how I've already done a complete 180 on this album. Comparing it to their last, yeah its better. But the debut is still leaps and bounds ahead of this.

Justin doesn't need to rush back with an album as long as he does a good job of staying in the spotlight with some high-quality cameos on other people's records. If he waited another year, but had a couple of top ten hits with some collabos during that time, I think he'd be fine.
It'll be really tough for him have another era as strong as FSLS since Timbaland helped generate all his biggest hits (except "Rock Your Body") and Tim is kind of faltering now. So, it's even more important now for him to come up with a new formula.
