Wow, this is literally a mashup of "Raise Your Glass" and "Till The World Ends." I don't think this is the worst song ever like you guys are saying, but it's pretty bad. The breakdown is one of the most obnoxious things I've heard in a non-LMFAO song in the last 12 months.
It'll probably be a Pop hit, but her Urban base is going to be hugely displeased. Between this, the Grammy performance, and all her other bullsh*t, she's really setting herself up for a backlash...

Agreed exactly. Doesn't help that her last two Teenage Dream singles are my least favorites she's ever released. She looks great on that single cover, though.

I hear you and I can understand Madonna's (or her handlers', whatever) resentment on that level. The main reason it rubs me the wrong way is that it's coming from someone who has literally grounded her career in "rebellious" stunts just like M.I.A.'s. I'd expect a different level of empathy from her. If you substituted Madonna with someone like Mariah or Beyonce, it wouldn't seem so hypocritical.

LMAO @ her response. She's correct that it was a "teenager" and "irrelevant" gesture, but for her - the QUEEN of stunts like this - of all people to be criticizing M.I.A? A very similar one that immediately springs to mind is the infamous Letterman appearance where she kept dropping the F-bomb. Madonna looks like a b*tch for not backing M.I.A.
And Paul, I absolutely LOVE when you (and others) derisively throw the word "artistic" around while discussing GaGa, Madonna, Christina and all these other jokers. Never fails to crack me up.

Every time I hear that line "We can drink some wine, burgundy is fine," I literally cringe. One of the worst lyrics I've heard in quite some time. Could she really not brainstorm a better rhyme?
As for the song overall, I'll tentatively give it a C, but that could easily fall to a D if it sticks around and gets overplayed at radio. The chanting/spelling is so immature, and when you listen to this back-to-back with "Vogue," "Like A Prayer" or one of her other classics...there's simply no comparison.

That beat is so hot, but it's almost a moot point since the lyrics and vocals are so corny. I can tell I'm going to become annoyed with this very quickly.

I don't think it's different at all, and that's almost the point. People were waiting to hear this sound from her, and jumped on it the second they got it. It's not terribly inventive or different from SUBG or MLWSWY, but that doesn't mean it's not a good song. The moment I heard it, my immediate thought was, "Well, here's her smash." Granted, I wasn't expecting a Hot 100 #1...glad for her.

I found this boring the first time I heard it, but it didn't take long to click afterwards. The chorus is what sold me especially. I'm glad radio has given it a chance thus far, and I hope it's not ultimately overshadowed by all the pop crossovers at HAC...

Their second best single ever, behind only "For The First Time." I could actually see this pulling a "Good Life" for them.

I was going to avoid going there...but does anyone else hear "We Found Love" in the post-chorus build-up?

I don't care how hot the production is. I don't want to turn up the music, get on the floor, grab my drink, party till the sun comes up, blow the speakers up, or any derivative thereof ANYMORE. Find something else to sing about.

Hot AC has really been punishing its core acts recently for releasing underwhelming, recycled material. Daughtry, Nickelback and The Fray have all struggled to scrape the Top 10. I guess now that programmers have realized how much crossover appeal certain rhythmic material has...it's really not 2005 anymore. This is easily the best out of the three song I mentioned, but I actually think Nickelback's was the most "adventurous," if only melodically.

Adam, we're on the same page the vast majority of the time and you know I love you, but I couldn't disagree more. I am SO OVER the electro sounds dominating Top 40 radio and they don't need to overrun Alternative too. Is it too much to ask for a nice guitar-based rock song?
As far as this song's concerned, I like it. Nothing spectacular but enjoyable enough to put on my iPod.

I found this obnoxious on the first listen, but then I heard it the second time a few weeks later and it instantly clicked. Star 94 added it relatively early and it sounds surprisingly excellent on the radio. It's also picking up some CHR adds. I think it'll land them a second crossover hit.

Added at Z100. This is such an obvious smash. What the hell were they thinking releasing MKIA first?

WTF is with her vocals during the "I don't ever want just another boy..." verse? Is she even on key?
She needs to cut the sh*t. Stop trying to shock us (the F-bomb? Really? You should be above that...), stop trying to prove how unique and special you are and get back to producing fun pop/dance music like you did through The Fame.

I actually think this is the best single she's released from the album, but as the fifth single from such an erratic era, I'm not surprised it missed the Top 10. If they released this second instead of that damn "Judas," I bet it would have gone Top 3 and she would have sustained a lot more momentum.

Definite improvement over last year's effort. Some of the levels and mixing seem a little wonky to my ears, and it's still not on 2009's level, but good stuff nonetheless.

Not only did this just scrape the Top 30 at CHR, it flat-out missed the Hot AC Top 10 That format used to be a gimme for them - radio is just not interested in this sound anymore. Could they finally be done?

Credit to Island where it's due - they haven't given up and it's chugging along consistently. It's far from amazing, but it's better than most of the Top 20 and I do think it deserves to be a hit.

I don't understand how anyone can like this. It's so maudlin and miserable. I literally don't think I've managed to sit through the song in its entirety once.

After over seven long years, Usher's Pop #1 streak is finally broken. I just wish it wasn't with this song. The chorus/breakdown is actually okay, but the verses take an eternity to build up and the payoff isn't nearly long enough.
