I've listened to this like 20 times since yesterday. Instant classic. The "can't wait to blow my candles out" line KILLS me.
How did no one realize this needed to be a full song?

HOT. AS. HELL. Best song on a very good album. They've lost their minds if they don't release this. My only complaint is that I wish Jay's verse were shorter and we got a second Rihanna verse.

This is super hot and exactly the sound I like from her. Not quite on the "Only Girl" or "What's My Name" level on first listen, but up there with her better singles for sure. Definitely a #1 with cross-format appeal.

Can't wait for this one. Although I like WFL, it hasn't grown on me to the point that I love it like Only Girl (In The World). I hope this release is a little fresher, hopefully the era's signature song and preferably not another dance anthem. I'd LOVE another What's My Name...

This is finally growing on me. The Tedder-inspired drums are sick, but I hate the backup vocals in the bridge.

This song is lucky it's so good because I can think of few others that can sustain this kind of overplay. I'm usually in the car for no more than 10 minutes at a time, and without fail I know I'll hear this at least once per trip.

I'm beginning to like this in spite of myself. Who keeps hooking him up with these hot songs? He's proven over and over again he can't move albums to save his life, and he has minimal celebrity status to speak of.
Also, I can't help but add "in my pants" to the end of each line in the hook. I'm a ten-year-old at heart.

As much fun as it is giving Nicole grief, this is actually a really good song and deserves to be a hit. If this can't do the trick for her, nothing will. The bullet's up just a smidge...hopefully it pulls an "Impossible" rather than a "Smile."

This would've worked better as a follow up single - it just doesn't have the "oomph" required of a lead Kelly single. I couldn't have summed it up better. This is a nice song in and of itself, but I can't believe her label thought this was the type of song to ignite excitement for an album era. MLWSWY was a song you knew would smash from the first listen, and that's what they needed here.

If the lyrics and Usher's vocals weren't so melodramatic and sappy, I'd probably like this a bit more. He sounds like he's about to burst into tears at any moment.

Not going out of my way to hear this anytime soon.

Love this. It's not inventive at all, but I don't care. It's just nice to have them back. Now let's see if Top 40 is smart enough to catch on.

I'm sorry, I can't stop laughing at that Grammy line. It's like the other songwriters played a joke on him or something. One of the funniest musical moments of the year.

The "If I could find a note to make you understand..." part was what I interpreted as the pre-chorus. I definitely agree that Adam makes the song. The hook's SO strong that it probably would have worked with someone else, but Adam was such a great choice. @ the thought of Bruno.

Someone nailed it earlier. The verses are so-so, but the pre-chorus is hot and best of all, the hook is one of the best I've heard all year. I'm so glad this became huge.
Who would have thought 6 months ago that the Gym Class Heroes, Maroon 5, Adele and Christina Aguilera would be occupying the Top 3 on CHR? LOL

I'm so sorry guys... but I like this The production and melody are excellent, especially for a Nickelback song. The lyrics are cheesy-generic, and Chad's vocals are terrible.

I'm a Rihanna fan and I was expecting to be wowed by this, but I can't lie, I'm a bit underwhelmed. Her lead singles have always had hot production, but the beat completely carries this song to an extreme - the lyrics and melody are sorely lacking, and the hook isn't strong at all.
I can't help comparing this to "Only Girl," and that WAY outstrips this. I hope the album's got stronger, more unique singles than this one. Rihanna gets a few extra passes on sticking to the dance sound since she's one of the artists who actually broke it into the mainstream in the last 3 years, but it's getting tired.

rihanna Rihanna No teasin' U waited long enough... 18 Sep LOL @ the notion that she's kept ANYONE waiting when her fifth single off an album that dropped less than a year ago is just entering the Top 10. I'm really excited to hear this, but even I think this is a little too soon. Are they that antsy to capitalize on holiday sales? In hindsight, skipping "California King Bed" and releasing "Cheers" fourth and last would have been the best course of action - at least there would be a slight break like there was between "Rude Boy" and "Only Girl." Whatever. As long as the song's hot, you won't hear a single complaint out of me, but even I'm surprised they didn't hold off a few weeks for "Cheers" to lose steam.

I don't dislike this per se, but it's completely been-there-done-that. Sounds exactly like "Over You" in particular. They have no pretensions of even remotely experimenting with their formula.

This reminds me of the circumstances under which "Only Girl" debuted. I will be a very happy man if this rivals that song's hotness.

I agree that they've had better releases, but in retrospect, this is a total smash on paper. It's such a fun, feel-good song with a great hook, memorable catchphrases and, as Dave mentioned above, The Voice factor working in its favor. I hated it at first, but it's too joyous not to cave. And I'm not gonna lie, it's nice to hear Christina exercising control on something decent again after the crap she's released in recent years.

This is absolutely unacceptable and easily in the Top 5 worst songs of the year. It's mindless enough to be a hit, but I agree that it's not universal enough to pull a PRA.

I love the line about "more than a Grammy award, that's what you mean to me." Like...that's good to hear, because you're never gonna get one. LOL
Anyway, this is falling apart just as it hits the Top 20. Kind of a shame, but there are better songs ahead so it's no huge loss. His days are definitely numbered if this can't hit.
