I really, really like this on first listen. It's not half as instant or hot as BYH, but there's something incredibly infectious about the chorus.

I'm not sure I could take it becoming a hit now. It feels old to me, but it's not old enough for it to not still feel played out. (If that makes any sense at all)

WTF...this sounds like it's ripping from Madonna or Justin Timberlake (and not exactly my favourite tracks from them either). Not at all what I want to hear from Katy.

This is hot. Too much auto-tune on the verses, but then I don't like how raw her voice sounds on the chorus. But I wouldn't mind this direction from her, although truth be told I like her best when she's doing pop-rock, or even straight up pop.
ROFL...I just got to the bridge. Amazing.

They'd be wise to axe this. He has enough hits left on the album ("Don't Let Me Fall" for crossover/ "Past My Shades" for Urban/"The Kids" for crossover), and "Magic" is screaming to be a summer hit. It's way better than the new Katy Perry. That's a joke, right? There's no logic to cutting it in the bud - it's blowing up on its own and everyone is digging it. This isn't another "Blah Blah Blah," IMO, it's much more in the vein of "Telephone." "Magic" could still get a late-summer release.

Apparently this is their new single in the US. Premieres Monday.

Ya, this is an obvious hit. Everything about the chorus is structured to make it an anthem.
That said, I'm not entirely sure I loved it. I need to hear it in HQ.

Another leaked demo. I reckon this is the best one of the bunch so far.

This sounds amazing. This is shaping up to be my favourite album of the year.

I remember liking this a lot, but I honestly don't even remember how it goes.

The video is damn hot, but I'm not sure I get the bird thing. Is she like Nelly Furtado, she only flies away?

The chorus isn't bad at all, but the rest reminds me a lot of "Blah Blah Blah" for all the wrong reasons, and look how that turned out.

This is really not that good. And the dancing in the video is just awful.

I actually think this will fit in really well at radio right about now, so I reckon it was a solid choice. But it isn't as hot as WWFM, and radio seemed reluctant to play that...I'm really not sure if this will be a hit.

"Decent sized" and "Top 30 on BB100" don't scream "let's try again" to me. I see no reason they shouldn't try something else, and this is all kinds of hot. IMO, this was absolutely the right step to take. Even if it's not huge in the US, the international market for dance music is a heckuva lot bigger than the urban market. She's already started to crack it thanks to her feature on "When Love Takes Over," and this feels like a perfect follow up to it.

Granted this is a demo, but GaGa's version walks all over this. I can't even fathom this version being anything more than a sh*t b-side.

Also, I don't hear a Verve sample. The opening strings, which then repeat throughout the chorus, are lifted directly from the opening of "Bittersweet Symphony."

I'm sure sales are contributing a lot to how close they are on the Hot 100..."Telephone" definitely isn't done at radio yet, and "Alejandro" is still climbing.

The verses are hot, but the chorus + sample it pretty awful.

If she has mentioned that this was a Madge's hommage, I would've loved the video. Considering how blatant it all is, if she'd said that she probably would've gotten away with it. I'm sure some people would've ripped her for doing it, but over all it would've been a much more positive reaction - look at the recent Glee near-shot-for-shot remake of "Vogue" for example.

This is one of the better tracks on his album, and I've already heard people singing it randomly, but "Love Hangover" is by far the better song, and would make for a great summer track. This could wait until fall.
